This stunning original cover art features the work of Neal Adams (pencils, which were then scanned and printed out in blueline) and Terry Dodson (who inked over Adams' bluelines). So this is the inked bluelines and is the actual, original artwork used by DC to produced the final, printed cover. It is in excellent and undisplayed condition and is from DC's "Neal Adams Variant Cover" event, where Adams swiped images from some of his own iconic covers from the late Silver and early Bronze Age. This particular cover was swiped from Superman #243 (1971), the "mystery woman" from the original cover having been replaced by Wonder Woman. An image of that vintage comic cover is shown for reference only.Included with the original cover, which is hand signed by both Terry Dodson and Neal Adams, is a print of the cover as it appears in its final, colored version. Please note- the print that comes with the original is not the comic book itself. Again, the original 1971 comic this cover was swiped from - Superman #243 - is shown for reference.
Don't miss this affordable chance to own an original Neal Adams cover! About the artist (from the VaultCollectibles biography).Neal Adams (1941) is regarded as one of the top three comic artists of all time, behind only Will Eisner and Jack Kirby on Atlas Comics top 100 list (making him the number one living comic artist). Adams not only changed comic books, but the comics industry itself, helping secure Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster a pension as well as the much-deserved recognition for their creation, the first super hero, Superman. These were among the industries first steps towards creator rights. He has also drawn some of comics most popular characters.
Best known, unquestionably, for Batman, Adams also illustrated numerous other characters during popular runs on Green Lantern/Green Arrow and Superman as well as shorter but no less impressive works on Conan, the Flash, and the X-Men. His covers for DCs horror titles House of Mystery and House of Secrets are among the best to every grace the covers of either series. Adams has received numerous Alley Awards, including Best Cover, Best Full-Length Story, and Best Pencil Artist. His Shazam Awards include best Individual Story for both 1970 and 1971 and Best Pencil Artist.
